GUNJAN DANCE ACADEMY

Gunjan Dance Academy is a brain child of Guru Smt. Meera Das, a renowned Odissi exponent of the present era, who took dance at a tender age, with  the expert guidance of Padmabibhusan Guru Sri Kelucharan Mohapatra, in Odissi Research Centre, which  led her to perform solo in numerous  Festivals throughout the country and almost  62 countries over the world. Along with her performing skill she founded Gunjan Dance Academy in 1995, with an aim to create next generation dancers, those who are dedicated and passionate to carry her Guru’s legacy. Gunjan has  received the coveted ICCR recognition and today it is one of the premier dance institute of  Odisha having more than 300 students receiving training in the institute at silver city of Cuttack, Odisha. Many of her students are very well established in their dance career and also teaching young upcoming students of Gunjan.

Smt. Meera Das has received many awards nationally and internationally for her relentless contribution to Odissi dance. With her choreographic skill she has choreographed more than 30 new dance items and almost 17 dance dramas. Keeping the Odissi grammar and style intact she is being very successfully working in this field since 33 years. Gunjan Dance Academy has an excellent in-house facility for students where students from all background including overseas students come for learning this dance form. To promote and popularize this dance form, senior students of Gunjan along with Smt. Meera Das conducts lecture demonstration programs in interior part of Odisha and also in other states. Gunjan organizes a national level festival named Gunjan Dance & Music Festival since 28 years in the city of Cuttack.
